Client: World Tourism Organisation

The aim of the project was to formulate an environmentally acceptable and economically viable 10-year infrastructure improvement plan for tourist areas along the South West Coast. The study identified infrastructure improvements and opportunities for private sector tourism development, and set out an action plan for implementation. Comprehensive Tourism Renewal Plans were prepared for declining tourism areas.

Bone Wells Urbecon provided the project economist for the infrastructure rehabilitation plan. Responsibilities included financial appraisal of infrastructure investment projects including cost recovery and funding, and project appraisal of private sector hotel development. The economic impact of proposals at national and local levels was also estimated.
