Bone Wells Urbecon was the lead consultant for this major study examining means of achieving higher regional income per capita in the Eastern Region through productivity growth and greater innovation and enterprise and export led growth, as well as the planning implications. The Study investigated interventions that could help achieve the RES target, (to reach a top 20 position among European regions by 2010), such as measures to boost productivity, innovation and enterprise, including innovation centres and incubators. The study identified the consequences for the region’s industrial and socio-economic structure, developed economic and labour market accounts and projections for the region to 2021, and assessed the implications of this level of growth for land use and infrastructure and the new Regional Planning Guidance and Structure Plans.
