Bone Wells Urbecon was commissioned to prepare an appraisal of the economic impact of a new tourism development in the mountainous area of Hatta, close to the Oman border.  The tourism project involved new hotel development, a biome, golf course, cable car, housing and other attractions.  Economic impact was assessed in terms of construction and operational impacts, examining effects of project expenditures on wages, purchases of supplies and profits, taking into account the domestic content of each and leakage.  Recommendations were made with respect to retaining optimum employment opportunities for the local, Hatta population.
